Mystery Bag

Overview

Mystery Bag is a Cairo food-rescue app that calls itself Egypt's first platform against food waste. Restaurants, hotels, bakeries and grocery shops pack their unsold surplus into surprise 'mystery bags', and nearby customers buy them at about half price. Users browse the bags available in their area, reserve one in the app and pick it up from the store. Bags can hold anything from fresh bakery items to skincare products. Founded in 2024, it was incubated by TIEC and was a 2025 MIT Solve Global Climate Challenge applicant.

The pitch

Founder Mohamed Ragab brought Mystery Bag to Shark Tank Egypt in Season 4 and asked for EGP 1 million in exchange for 10% equity. He pitched the app as Egypt's first platform against food waste, where businesses sell their surplus as discounted mystery bags. No public source confirms the outcome yet.
