Overview

Masroofi ("my pocket money") is an Egyptian fintech that gives children a prepaid card and a money-learning app, so kids aged roughly 6 to 15 can spend, save and pay electronically while their parents stay in control. Parents set up a profile, top up the wallet from their own bank card and order an NFC card for their child for EGP 75. Launched in January 2022 as Egypt's first e-wallet built for children, it issues its cards with Arab Bank and Visa and raised a $1.5 million seed round in 2023.

The pitch

Co-founders Mostafa Abdel-Khabeer and Sayed Hosni pitched Masroofi in Season 1, and turned down a EGP 16 million offer from the sharks. They presented their prepaid card and app as a way to bring children into cashless payments safely under parental supervision. The founders left the tank without a deal.
